Traineeships
Rural Industry Training and Extension offers an ideal pathway for those looking to enter the agriculture industry.
RITE offers both Full-Time and School-Based Traineeship programs. Trainees work on property with a Host Employer, enabling participants to gain nationally recognised qualifications in Certificate II, III and/or IV in Agriculture (Beef Cattle Production).
A RITE traineeship can be completed from anywhere between 12 to 24 months. It is almost impossible to fail achievement of this qualification. This is because competency-based training is different to normal school. There is no study period followed by an exam that results in either a pass or fail. A person doing competency-based training may be deemed not yet competent at a given point, but this simply means they require more training.
The Certificate in Agriculture is well recognised across the rural industry. Upon completion graduates will find their skills are in high demand. Over 80% of people who have completed a qualification at Certificate II or III are employed and these qualifications may also be used to gain entry into University courses.
Your career prospects are limited only by your imagination, you may go on to be a station manager, head stockman, chopper pilot, vet/vet nursing, training, research and sciences, agribusiness, stock and station agent or auctioneer, governmental departments, international agricultural industries or consultant.
Other industries also hold the RITE traineeship certificate in high regard, for example: Police Service, Mining Industry and the Armed Forces.
Individuals wishing to apply for a RITE Traineeship must have a good work ethic, a good standard of health and fitness, high energy levels and have a basic knowledge of the rural industry
